I have gone to accountant in the past and found for me, there is nothing that they did that I couldn’t do myself with the software and resources out on the market. Some software cost more than others, but what is offered for free?

There are many other free filing and free resources available, just be sure to do your homework and insure they are a reputable source. And FREE doesn’t always mean free – there can be extra charges for certain forms, for e-filing, or for other services. I do not endorse any particular vendor and offer this only as information.
I am happy that I did our taxes in February, and through I didn’t get to do them for free (I filed my business taxes too), I was able to find a discount through an organization we belong to and got 25% off the filing costs. I did pay under $100 for my, Sean and our business taxes and I feel confident that they were done properly.
Check organizations that you belong to and see if they offer a discount for tax filing too.
